JOB SUMMARY: The Licensed Vocational Nurse supervises staff and oversees patient care in accordance standards of care and practice and applicable state/federal regulations. Follows established facility policies and procedures while providing and coordinating resident care with other facility personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervises Certified Nursing Assistants during shift including assigning and distributing work, performance management, training new staff, and ensuring work is being performed according to facility standards. Participates in annual performance evaluations.
Monitors and oversees patient care to ensure that care plans and physician’s orders are being followed by conducting rounds. Documents changes in condition and contacts physician or family members as required.
Accurately administers medication and treatments. May include IV therapy, if certified.
May process patient admissions and discharges ensuring all required documentation is complete.
Communicate pertinent patient and staffing information to on-coming shift.
Immediately report any resident abuse or neglect to the Director of Nursing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Currently certified as a licensed vocational nurse per state regulations; 1 - 3 years of nursing experience required and/or training in a skilled nursing or sub-acute setting preferred, preferably working with seniors. Must be First Aid and C.P.R. certified. Leadership or supervisory experience a plus.
