Position Summary
The Good Life Grocery seeks Cashiers for both the Bernal Heights and Potrero stores. As a Cashier you will be responsible for working closely with
your supervisors and co-workers to create a supportive environment, ensuring the success of the front end and of the store overall through excellent
customer service and a demonstrated passion for food. Cashiers actively engage and educate customers about The Good Life Grocery products and
process customer purchases accurately and timely. Excellent communication, multitasking and self-motivation skills are essential. Successful
Cashiers also demonstrate a high level of integrity with department products, employees, vendors, and our customers.
Duties & Responsibilities for this position:
• Provide outstanding customer service - greet customers, process customer purchases accurately and quickly, handle and bag customer items with
- Maintain a well-organized and accurate daily register station - reconcile tills, accounting for all cash, checks and other forms of payment;
- Maintain cleanliness of the work station, following all cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor front end and back stock to ensure highest quality products and services are available. Make sure shelves are full and products are
- Handle deliveries and freight as they arrive daily - properly check in and sign for delivery, checking for quality and verifying the product
- Follow tasks assigned by management which include stocking, cleaning, organizing, checking prices and hanging price tags.
- Help resolve customer complaints, involving Management when necessary
- Maintain a positive work environment
- Assist other departments throughout the day as needed
- Learn about and maintain awareness about new products and educate customers and co-workers on products offered
Qualifications for this position:
• Great customer service and communication skills and a positive attitude; enjoys helping and engaging with customers and working with others.
- Quick learner, self-motivated, and able to work with a sense of urgency.
- Basic math skills, able to count back change properly.
- Able to memorize produce codes and learn the different types of fruits and vegetables.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task effectively
- Able to work well in a team or independently.
- Familiarity with natural food products a plus but not necessary.
- Able to properly and safely use equipment once trained, such as baler, hand truck, pallet jack
Physical Capabilities and Job Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling,
squatting, reaching, ability to lift up to 20 lbs., and repetitive use of hands. Employees must be physically present at the workplace/store and in strict
adherence to the Company’s attendance and punctuality requirements. Employees must have the willingness to work a flexible schedule including,
weekend, day, evening, and overnight and holiday work, as needed to meet the demands of the store. Employees may be exposed to extreme
temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.). Employees must wear Good Life Grocery uniform shirt or sweatshirt, or Good Life logo wear.
Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
