Description/Duties & Responsibilities
Primetime Preschool serves children ages 3-5 at multiple locations throughout Santa Clarita providing Kindergarten readiness with a curriculum that develops young learners socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

PTS Preschool Teachers Aide:

This position will work during the school year, September through May, Monday through Friday from approximately 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Additional hours received for training and meetings.

PTS Substitute Teacher’s Aide:

Classes are held Monday-Friday from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. during the school year at various locations throughout Santa Clarita. Selected candidates will be added to a substitute teacher’s aide pool on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent teacher’s aides.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works directly with the Preschool Teacher to provide preschool programs for children
Assists in organization, set-up, and clean-up of facility
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and materials throughout the program
Organizes, prioritizes and follows up on assignments
Greets patrons and participants and answers inquiries regarding programs
Maintains various forms, logs, and reports
Attends meetings and training sessions
Addresses behavior concerns in the classroom when necessary
Performs first aid and responds to emergencies; reports incidents and accidents
Supervises and leads children; maintaining staff/child ratio
Organizes and prepares activities for children
Adheres to Los Angeles Department of Public Health guidelines set forth
Other duties, as directed by Recreation Supervisor, Coordinator, and/or Preschool Teacher
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Six months of paid experience in preschool and/or child care programs
Completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes is highly desirable
Possession of, or ability to maintain within one month of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED.
Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including inclement weather
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights
Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is required occasionally

Final candidates for the position of PTS Preschool Teacher’s Aide will require a negative TB test result within the last two years to be cleared to work. This clearance must be completed prior to the first day of work. It is important to note that current CDC guidelines do not allow for a TB test to be given within 28 days of receiving the first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or vaccine booster.

In compliance with the California law, positions working with children are required to be mandated child abuse reporters. A mandated reporter is an individual who is obligated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.

As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109). Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.

PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours.
